Puzzles by Peter and Gloria

Puzzles by us!

July 24, 2024

A couple of years ago, I was in my studio working on a jigsaw puzzle by American artist Eric Dowdle. Peter came in to see how I was doing and offered suggestions on how I could be more organized and efficient. He brought in a portable table, put it beside me, and began organizing my puzzle pieces. I had always been a pretty good puzzle-maker, but his ideas helped me be even better.

Note: Austin gave me the puzzle in the picture above. I enjoyed it so much that I made it once and again a year later. Thanks, Austin!

I set up my next puzzle on the dining room table, and before I knew it, Peter was organizing the puzzle pieces. From that day on, we’ve made puzzles together, with Peter organizing all the pieces and me forming the puzzle. Once he has all the pieces organized to his satisfaction, we work together to make the puzzle.

We came across a television program called “The Piece Maker.” It is about the artist Eric Dowdle, who travels the world visiting the most beautiful and unique places, sketching as he goes along. When he returns home, he turns his sketches into brilliant paintings that are made into jigsaw puzzles. His puzzles are beautiful and intricate, and they offer a great challenge! Here are a few of his puzzles.

Here are a few other puzzles that we made together.

There will be lots more puzzle photos in upcoming posts.
