Our Family Scrapbook

I hate gardening, but I love having gardened.

I got that line from the great Dorothy Parker, an American poet, writer, critic, wit, and satirist based in New York. She always said: “I hate writing, but I love having written.” She also said: “I like to have a martini, two at the very most. After three I’m under the table, after four I’m under my host.” So, I won’t be using that line!

I’m four-and-a-half months away from turning 76, and gardening gets harder every year. I worked outside for two hours today, and now I need to put my feet up and remember that tomorrow is another day. I don’t have to do everything at once!
