Our Family Scrapbook

Me, Neil and the horses

My lifelong dream has been to sit on a horse—maybe even ride one a little. So, here I am at the age of almost 76, and Neil is making it happen for me. He searched the Ottawa Valley and finally, after much effort, found someone who is willing to let us ride their horses.

As a lead-up to this, last year, Neil took me to visit some horses. The owner, a lady, gave us an excellent talk about how to behave around a horse and how to handle one. She showed us how to feed the horse a carrot without losing a finger, and she taught me how to brush the horse, which I did and thoroughly enjoyed.

She let me lead the horse in the barn, and I felt like I had won the lottery. Oh, my goodness, horses are the most beautiful creatures!

Our real horse ride is coming up, and I can’t wait! Heehaw, giddyup! More to come!

Thank you, Neil, for taking the photos and making my dream come true! I wish I had taken pictures of you, too. When we do our real ride, I will have my camera ready!
